Android-powered Vertu Constellation Ti leaked all over, just needs a diamond-studded price tag (updated)

Androidpowered Vertu Ti RM828V

Shortly after the latest rumor that Vertu's prepping its first-ever Android-based device, eagle-eyed Blog of Mobile delivered further evidence to support the claim, and it even managed to dig out what claims to be product shots of said phone. First of all, the name "Ti" and model number "RM-828V" are spotted across Bluetooth SIG, GLBenchmark and telecom regulator databases in Singapore and Macau. Having scanned through these pages we now know that the Ti will come with Android 4.0.4, an 800 x 480 display, a 1.5GHz processor, Bluetooth 4.0 and NFC. Blog of Mobile added that it's a Snapdragon MSM8260A SoC with WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 radio, accompanied by a rather lame 1,250mAh battery. Bluetooth SIG's page provided the following design description of the device:

"VERTU Ti possesses the classic Vertu design DNA and characteristics - strong, unique & distinctive. The design and craftsmanship positions VERTU Ti alongside other iconic products in the luxury market."

If the above images are authentic then the Ti does indeed maintain the classic Vertu look. The only real changes we can see so far are the three new physical keys -- presumably "Back," "Home" and "Recent apps" for Android. If all goes well, we should see this wallet-busting gadget at MWC next month, so start saving up now.

Update: Russian retailer spblux.ru lists four variants of the Ti or, as the site calls it, the Constellation Ti: "Titanium Black PVD black leather," "Titanium Black Alligator," "Red Gold Mixed Metal" and "Titanium Black Leather." Interestingly, the red gold version has a search button instead of "Recent apps," but we guess that was an earlier design. Regardless, we got all four designs after the break for your viewing pleasure. [Thanks, Roman K.]

Africa Cup of Nations 2013 - Togo vs. Tunisia Live Stream, Preview, Predictions

By Francisco Salazar | First Posted: Jan 30, 2013 08:43 AM EST

(Photo : REUTERS/Ihsaan Haffejee (SOUTH AFRICA - Tags: SPORT SOCCER)) Algeria's Sofiane Feghouli (front L) and Togo's Alaixys Romao battle for the ball during their African Nations Cup Group D soccer match in Rustenburg January 26, 2013.

The battle between Togo and Tunisia on Wednesday will determine which squad moves on to the knockout stages.

Togo got off to a dreadful start in the tournament with a 2-1 loss to the Ivory Coast. Togo conceded a goal in the eighth minute to Yaya Tour? but was able to draw even in stoppage time of the first half courtesy of a goal from Jonathan Ayit?.

The match looked primed for a draw, but Gervinho scored in the 88th?minute to seal a win of Ivory Coast. Togo bounced back in its following match and took down Algeria 2-0 with goals from Emmanuel Adebayor and Dov? Wome.

Like Us on Facebook

Tunisia meanwhile defeated Algeria in its opener 1-0 on a 91st?minute goal from Youssef Msakni. In their ensuing battle with Ivory Coast, the Tunisians were pummeled 3-0.

Togo holds the goal differential tie breaker at the moment but the head-to-head result is valued more than anything else. A draw works in Togo's favor.

Predictions: Tunisia is prone to defensive lapses while Togo has looked solid on the backend. Look for Togo to play a relatively tight defensive match as they attempt to earn a draw. They will be waiting for a Tunisia mistake to strike and will win 1-0 Togo.

Nexus 4 smartphones back on Google Play in Germany, get 'em while they're hot

STUB Google Announcement

If the Nexus 4's recent scarcity has been making you want it even more, there's good news: it's now back on Google Play shelves. After a lengthy shortage resulted in a minor finger-pointing episode between Mountain View and manufacturer LG, the pair have starting restocking the popular quad-core, Android 4.2-pure device, on Play, well ahead of LG's February estimate. So far, it's only popped up in Germany, and there's no word yet on when they'll arrive elsewhere. Given the pent-up demand, however, you may want to grab one when it does.

What are missing in MOOC research? | Learner Weblog

MOOC is here to stay!

Reference to Peter Sloep?s comments on this post on Google Plus and Scoop.it

Good reflection on MOOCs. ?How about research into MOOCs?

There are missing elements ? learners? needs (and motivation), pedagogy (from both teachers and learners? perspectives) and openness which seems?fundamental and universal in most Higher Education system, but not thoroughly addressed, as most posts published in those newspapers have been written from the perspectives of news reporters, senior executives or CEO, professors, administrators and researchers, but not much by teachers and learners.

As I shared in my posts, the learners? needs may be segmented in accordance to a few categories ? (a) those who are in high school, but would like to advance their knowledge or have some remedial knowledge through KA or preliminary courses in university, (b) those who are looking for university or degree education, (c) those who are graduates, and would like to use MOOC to further their professional development, and (d) those who are interested in life-long and continuing education, and (e) those who are retired or just have an interest in the course (MOOC). ?Such diverse needs would also require different pedagogies ? instructivist approach for those novice of (a), (b), a mix of social constructivist and or connectivist approaches for (c), (d) and (e). ?Openness could be difficult to define, though would likely be based on individual?s preference.

Unfortunately, there aren?t much research findings (from xMOOCs) published on these areas, leading to lots of posts basing only on expert?s knowledge and experience, but not much on empirical and statistical findings as evidences to support those assertions and assumptions.

I did researches on cMOOCs and published findings based on empirical data, rather than the mere use of blog posts or basic statistics as reported in blogs. ?It seems that without those empirical data, we are just best speculating on the trend, but that these are not yet fully reflective of the ?reality?. ?Besides, if we are to ask people what serves them best, they would likely tell you what is available now for free (like instructivist approach) where the instructors might have curated all information, taught what is required for the quizzes, assignments, and examination, leaving the learners to consume what is presented. ?This would surely satisfy the requirements for the course, from an institutional perspective, and all auditors? requirements. ?However, that would only cover the procedural knowledge and at best declarative knowledge which is known and could be tested and assessed by automated system.

There is not much emphasis on generative and creative knowledge, as they are not tested or assessed (or cannot be assessed), and there aren?t much progress in this area, simply because social constructivism and connectivism may only be given a light touch in those MOOCs, where the professors have no time to interact or connect with each of the participants (i.e. it is impossible with tens of thousands of students). ?This is again based on the assumptions that learners would learn better using different pedagogies which may only be valid with empirical findings and validation.

In Philadelphia, Bringing Health Education to Beauty Salons ...

"Built around the natural conversations that take place among women in beauty salons, [my Schweitzer project] provides opportunities for these women to talk about—and learn about—healthy living," Sanders says.

?Built around the natural conversations that take place among women in beauty salons, [my Schweitzer project] provides opportunities for these women to talk about?and learn about?healthy living,? Sanders says.

Last year, the Philadelphia Inquirer featured Schweitzer Fellow Kenji Taylor?s work to bring hypertension screenings to West Philadelphia?s African-American barbershops.

Now, Schweitzer Fellow Anjelica Sanders is implementing a community-based health education effort in the same vein as Taylor?s: she?s bringing health education to beauty salons in low-income Philadelphia neighborhoods, with the goal of promoting conversations?and action?about healthy living.

?Raised in a family of hairdressers, I am extremely familiar with the salon environment,? says Sanders, one of this year?s Schweitzer Fellows and a student in St. Joseph?s University Graduate Health Education Program. ?I saw an opportunity to involve African-American women in conversation about health and fitness in an environment where they were comfortable and engaged in great amounts of dialogue.?

ASF: Why did you decide to develop your particular project?

AS: During my undergraduate career, I learned about our society?s obesity epidemic. In many cases, complications from obesity?including diabetes, hypertension, heart attack, and stroke?can be prevented, managed, and even reversed through lifestyle changes.

But you cannot choose an option that you do not know exists. As an African-American from urban Philadelphia, with a grandmother who suffers from preventable, manageable, reversible type II Diabetes Mellitus, I wanted to make it my goal to educate and enlighten people on leading healthy lifestyles so they might eventually make the choice to do so.

I had already begun thinking of many creative approaches to health education in urban communities?specifically low-income, low educational/literacy level ones. When I had the opportunity to apply to become an Albert Schweitzer Fellow in Greater Philadelphia, I jumped right in.

For my Schweitzer project, I came up with Black Women BIO: Beauty Inside & Out (BWBIO) in partnership with the Philadelphia Black Women?s Health Alliance. Built around the natural conversations that take place among women in beauty salons, BWBIO provides opportunities for these women to talk about?and learn about?healthy living.

By talking about health in the context of a beauty routine that women are already invested in, we can connect women with health resources and promote health and beauty from the inside out. What?s on the outside doesn?t matter, and won?t last, if you are not taking care of what is going on in the inside. I hope that my project sparks salon conversations about healthy living: Who?s working out and eating better? Who?s living longer and has noticed an increased quality of life?

ASF: What do you hope will be the lasting impact of your project on the community it serves?

AS: I hope that my project will not only educate people, but also empower them. I hope it will build awareness of the health disparities that face the African-American community, and make people want to take action.

It is common knowledge that members of low-socioeconomic communities have less available resources to live healthy lifestyles?but do these people know what options they do have? Do they know that they can get enjoyable, meaningful workouts right in their homes?and that even though it costs more to buy healthy foods, it is ultimately more cost-effective to do so? I hope the women who participate in my program share what they learned on all levels and apply much of the information in their daily lives.

During the end of my Fellowship year, to sustain health inside the beauty salon, I plan to go on a ?Healthalize the Salon? campaign throughout Philadelphia that provides the opportunity for salon owners and individual stylists to create a health station within their salon.

The stations will offer accessible, easy-to-read resources on healthy lifestyles so that when conversation about health and fitness arises, the stylist can say, ?Oh, go over to our health station; there?s a section about getting started on a fitness plan,? or ?Go over to our health station; there?s a section that lists free health clinics in the area.?

ASF: What do you think is the most pressing health-related issue of our time, and how do you think it should be addressed?

AS: ?I believe that obesity is the most pressing health-related issue of our time, especially in regards to the relationship it has with so many other diseases and conditions such as type II Diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart attack, osteoarthritis, and stress. I believe the issue should be examined and addressed from all angles: physical, psychological, and sociological. I think health professionals and policy makers should lead by example and show how good healthy living can be!

ASF: What has been the most surprising element of your experience as a Schweitzer Fellow so far?

AS: Honestly, the most surprising element of my experience as a Schweitzer Fellow has been my repeated encounters with people who are committed to service. I have never been surrounded by so many people who have an interest in the greater good, for more than themselves and their loved ones.

In the five months that I have been a Fellow, I have been delighted to come across not only individuals who want to do something about the many issues faced in our society, but the many organizations that are actually already out there fighting for something or helping those in need.

To know that there are others who care about health disparities makes me feel like there is hope, especially if we can be united through opportunities such as The Albert Schweitzer Fellowship.

ASF: What does being a Schweitzer Fellow (and ultimately a Schweitzer Fellow for Life) mean to you?

AS: Being a Schweitzer Fellow means being a part of a group of people who care. It means that I am not alone in identifying and wanting to address disparities. Ultimately, I am not alone in taking action. Becoming a Fellow for Life just expands the experience. I will be a part of an extremely large group of people with international impact. I look forward to being able to connect with community service-minded professionals nationally and internationally and building meaningful relationships that will continue to impact the greater good.

Library solves animal control's puppy poop problem

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) ? San Francisco's animal control agency is proving that the print editions of newspapers remain just as vital in the digital age.

The agency relies on the papers to line cages and catch its puppy's poop. It is now turning to the city's public library to ensure a consistent newspaper supply.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the agency will pick up newspapers from the library about twice a month.

Agency supervisor Eric Zuercher says the arrangement has solved a big problem, noting puppies are poop machines.

The agency had previously relied on public contributions and donations from the Chronicle.

news Art and Entertainment: Mobile Betting Selections Easy And ...

By Amir E. Flanegan

Mobile betting is a brand new alternative developed not too long ago thanks to the latest technology innovations. Betting or gambling on games has been popular in numerous countries all over the world since the old era. So far, many people are still considering internet or perhaps mobile casino games wagering activity as a significant part of their personal or social life.

To most players, spending some time in betting for card games and various games online, as well as on various sports, is a good way to achieve relief from a stressful life at the job. There are also many people that consider gambling as way of making great profits the lazy way.

These folks use several sets of internet or mobile betting strategies that efficiently boost their odds of winning, or at least help them avoid impractical wagering.

In Blackjack plus in some other card games, many expert gamblers make use of the betting strategy called card counting. These casino games strategies will basically help you figure out whether the subsequent hand will give a possible advantage to you or not.

However, as a card counter or an advantage player, you can't use the cards counting strategy wagering online. The reason is that in the internet or even mobile Blackjack there's no sense to count the cards as the cards deck is shuffled every session round.

Meanwhile, you may also use the betting option known as Due-Column betting strategy. It is a fixed-profit kind of casino mobile games strategies where you will increase the amount you wager on a single proposition after each of your successive losses. The rise in your own bets must be determined based on your fixed profit to recover the amount of all amounts you lost in the initial bets.

Many mobile casinos use the mathematics of probability in establishing their house edge for those mobile casino games they feature. Thus, you may also use such understanding to beat the game using the game betting technique called Kelly Criterion or even Kelly Formula. Although it may take you a while in examining the mathematical concepts involved with this strategy, it'll worth the significant increase in your odds of beating mobile casinos. In fact, this tactic is also applicable in the mainstream investments, particularly on the analysis on the given investment factors and the matching odds.

An additional easy and simple wagering alternative that you can try is the Martingale technique, which works likewise with Due-Column betting strategy. The main difference between these casino games strategies is that Martingale is primarily applicable to 50-50 events like tossing of any coin while in Due-Column using odds variance. Like the other technique, Martingale simply requires you to definitely double the total amount that you simply wager every time you lose in the game round. For example, in the event you bet with $1 on the initial round and unfortunately lose three times in a row, your wagers should be $2, $4, and $8 for that second, third, and also 4th, round and so on til you have retrieved the total amount you've lost.

In some mobile betting websites, you may also use wagering options like Fixed Profits and also Fixed Stakes. Fixed Profit fundamentally includes ensuring exactly the same profit from each and every winning selection thru the varying stakes based on the game odds. On the other hand, you can use fixed stakes in mobile casinos in which you merely stake the same amount upon each and every selection you make.

Stem cells aid recovery from stroke, study suggests

Jan. 28, 2013 ? Stem cells from bone marrow or fat improve recovery after stroke in rats, finds a study published in BioMed Central's open access journal Stem Cell Research & Therapy. Treatment with stem cells improved the amount of brain and nerve repair and the ability of the animals to complete behavioural tasks.

Stem cell therapy holds promise for patients but there are many questions which need to be answered, regarding treatment protocols and which cell types to use. This research attempts to address some of these questions.

Rats were treated intravenously with stem cells or saline 30 minutes after a stroke. At 24 hours after stroke the stem cell treated rats showed a better functional recovery. By two weeks these animals had near normal scores in the tests. This improvement was seen even though the stem cells did not appear to migrate to the damaged area of brain. The treated rats also had higher levels of biomarkers implicated in brain repair including, the growth factor VEGF.

A positive result was seen for both fat (adipose) and bone-marrow derived stem cells. Dr Exuperio D?ez-Tejedor from La Paz University Hospital, explained, "Improved recovery was seen regardless of origin of the stem cells, which may increase the usefulness of this treatment in human trials. Adipose-derived cells in particular are abundant and easy to collect without invasive surgery."

(AP) ? The CIA thriller "Argo" continues to steamroll through awards season, winning the top honor for overall cast performance at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

SAG's lead-acting honors Sunday went to Jennifer Lawrence for her role as a troubled widow in a shaky new relationship in the lost-souls romance "Silver Linings Playbook" and Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln in the Civil War epic "Lincoln."

Anne Hathaway of "Les Miserables" and Tommy Lee Jones of "Lincoln" won the supporting-acting honors.

"It occurred to me ? it was an actor that murdered Abraham Lincoln," said Day-Lewis, a solid front-runner to join an exclusive list of three-time acting Oscar winners. "And therefore, somehow it is only so fitting that every now and then an actor tries to bring him back to life again."

It was a brisk, businesslike and fairly bland evening as the actors union handed out honors to a predictable lineup of winners who generally had triumphed at earlier Hollywood ceremonies or past SAG shows.

The SAG cast win came a day after "Argo" claimed the top honor from the Producers Guild of America, whose winner often goes on to claim best picture at the Academy Awards. "Argo" also was a surprise victor two weeks ago at the Golden Globes, where it won best drama and director for Ben Affleck.

The awards momentum positions "Argo" for a rare feat at the Feb. 24 Oscars, where it could become just the fourth film in 85 years to be named best picture without a nomination for its director.

"To me this has nothing to do with me, it has to do with the incredible people who were in this movie," said Affleck, who also stars in "Argo" and accepted the SAG prize alongside his cast.

Affleck plays CIA agent Tony Mendez, who masterminded the daring rescue of six U.S. embassy workers in Iran after the 1979 hostage crisis erupted. The Americans were brought out of Iran masquerading as crew members of a fake Hollywood sci-fi movie scouting locations.

A directing nomination at the Oscars usually goes hand in hand with a best-picture win. When Affleck was snubbed for a directing slot, awards analysts initially were counting "Argo" out for the best-picture Oscar, along with Kathryn Bigelow's "Zero Dark Thirty" and Tom Hooper's "Les Miserables," which also missed out on directing nominations.

Only once in modern times has a film won best picture without a directing nomination, with 1989's "Driving Miss Daisy." The other two times came in the show's early years, at the first Oscars in 1929 with "Wings" and for 1932's "Grand Hotel."

But "Argo" has proven a resilient crowd-pleaser, dominating at awards shows since then over Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln," which leads the Oscars with 12 nominations.

The cast prize at SAG adds some weight to the Oscar prospects for "Argo," though the guild honor has a spotty record at forecasting eventual best-picture winners. Only eight of 17 times since the guild added the category has the cast winner gone on to take the best-picture Oscar. "The Help" won the guild's cast prize last year, while Oscar voters named "The Artist" as best picture.

The next playoff round before the Oscars is Saturday's Directors Guild of America Awards, where Affleck, Bigelow, Spielberg and Hooper all are nominated, along with Ang Lee for "Life of Pi." The winner there typically goes on to triumph with directing and best-picture Oscars, but only Spielberg and Lee are nominated for both the Directors Guild and Oscar prizes this time, throwing the awards picture into a muddle.

Sunday's acting prizes solidify those categories, though. "Silver Linings" star Lawrence won a Golden Globe and has become one of Hollywood's hottest talents, with part two of her blockbuster franchise, "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," due out in November.

"Now I have this naked statue that means some of you even voted for me, and that is an indescribable feeling," Lawrence said after explaining she earned her SAG card at age 14 by filming a spot for MTV.

Hathaway won for her role as a doomed single mother forced into prostitution in the adaptation of the stage musical based on Victor Hugo's epic novel. Her win came over four past Oscar recipients ? Sally Field, Helen Hunt, Nicole Kidman and Maggie Smith.

"I'm just thrilled I have dental," Hathaway said. "I got my SAG card when I was 14. It felt like the beginning of the world. I have loved every single minute of my life as an actor. ... Thank you for nominating me alongside incredible women and incredible performances."

Jones, who was not at the show, won for his turn as abolitionist firebrand Thaddeus Stevens in the Civil War epic. The win improves his odds to become a two-time Academy Award winner. He previously won a supporting-actor Oscar for "The Fugitive."

Day-Lewis, a two-time Oscar winner for "My Left Foot" and "There Will Be Blood," could become the fifth actor to earn three Oscars, along with Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Ingrid Bergman and Walter Brennan. Katharine Hepburn has the acting record with four Oscars.

Backstage at SAG, Day-Lewis was hardly ready to predict a third Oscar win.

"There's a good chance I won't. I feel the same way at all these occasions. Mostly, we're traveling as a group, the fellow nominees, give or take one here or there," Day-Lewis said. "I would happily recognize any single one person whose name is called."

On SAG's television side, with "30 Rock" ending its run, its stars Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin won the SAG awards for best comedy performers. It was Baldwin's seventh-straight win, while Fey earned her fifth SAG prize.

"Oh, my God. It's ridiculous," Baldwin said. "It's the end of our show, which is sad. Everybody is sad about that. It was the greatest experience I've ever had."

Fey gave a plug for the show's finale airing Thursday, noting that it's up against "The Big Bang Theory."

"Just tape 'The Big Bang Theory' for once, for crying out loud," Fey said.

"Modern Family" won for best overall cast in a TV comedy show. Accepting for the cast, "Modern Family" co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson offered thanks to the makers of "30 Rock" and another departing series, "The Office," saying "you all have set the comedy bar so high."

The TV drama acting awards went to Claire Danes of "Homeland" and Bryan Cranston of "Breaking Bad." ''Downton Abbey" won the TV drama cast award.

Julianne Moore's turn as Sarah Palin in "Game Change" earned her the TV prize for best actress in a movie or miniseries. Kevin Costner won for best actor in a movie or miniseries for "Hatfields & McCoys."

Receiving the guild's life-achievement award was Dick Van Dyke, who presented the same prize last year to his "The Dick Van Dyke Show" co-star, Mary Tyler Moore.

After waiting on stage for a prolonged standing ovation to end, Van Dyke said, "That does an old man a lot of good."

History of the Eagles Part 1: Sundance Review - The Hollywood ...

The Bottom Line

The first half of a two-part Eagles doc surely contains 90% of the worthy material.

Venue:

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL, DOCUMENTARY PREMIERES (Showtime TV)

Director:

Alison Ellwood

PARK CITY ? A solid, safe biography of one of the world's most successful bands, Alison Ellwood's History of the Eagles Part 1 will remind non-fanatics how many omnipresent singles this group released in under a decade; for those who don't need that reminder, it offers the chance to see bandmates past and present (along with a fair number of peers) reminiscing on a record-by-record basis. TV viewership should be strong, though one has to ask -- as Part 1 covers everything through the 1980 breakup, who wants to see Part 2, which covers the reunion? It's one thing to sell millions of copies of a mediocre record to old fans who haven't bought new music in a decade, and to convince them to pay record-high ticket prices for reunion gigs; another thing entirely to get them to watch a film about that exploit.

VIDEO: THR?s Sundance Video Diaries

Ellwood interviews both the band's current members and those who fell by the wayside, but doesn't pretend there aren't two who are substantially more important: Glenn Frey and Don Henley are the only members whose childhoods are covered here -- Frey's Detroit youth exposing him to Motown hits, Henley's Texas upbringing offering Hank Williams and tantalizing radio broadcasts from neighboring Louisiana.

After early musical efforts, both made their way to Los Angeles (Kenny Rogers drops in here to explain his role), where for a time Frey lived in Echo Park with Jackson Browne illegally renting the basement below him. Frey recalls that hearing Browne get up every morning and play the same verse dozens of times convinced him songwriting was all about "elbow grease."

Browne shows up for some scene-setting here, as do David Geffen and the band's producers and manager. Notably absent is Linda Ronstadt, who gave Henley and Frey an early opportunity to break out of the Troubadour scene and make some money on the road. Ronstadt does show up in good vintage interviews, though, alongside plenty of period footage of the Eagles on and off stage.

Little if anything in this chronological rundown will surprise fans, unless the surprise is in how little emphasis is given to bad behavior. Yes, there was that time with Joe Walsh and John Belushi, wreaking havoc in Chicago; yeah, there was some cocaine. The latter topic amounts to something like a minute of screen time; the former, at least, is a great story. (Walsh, the band's designated prankster and hotel-room-wrecker, recalls that "one of the most terrifying things ever was when Keith Moon decided he liked me.")

If the film acknowledges Frey and Henley's prominence, it does make room for their colleagues: Anecdotes about the births of "Hotel California" and "Life in the Fast Lane" make it clear those songs wouldn't exist without guitarists Don Felder and Joe Walsh. But not all the musical illustrations are that valuable: Not to pick on Randy Meisner, who comes off as a decent fellow, but do we really need to hear an explanation of the lyrics to "Take It To The Limit"?

Boost Your Business With Internet Marketing Tips | One Way Links ...

When you begin your business online, your first step for success should be, training yourself on the top internet marketing techniques, in order to get your business noticed. Knowing how to market your business online is very important to your bottom line. To jumpstart your business, here are some top tips that are sure to help move the revenue needle.

Site-wide links should not be used. In the latest internet marketing algorithm changes they have become highly depreciated, and may even lead to penalization. There should only be one site-wide link for every forty to fifty unique links. It is better to be safe then sorry with your links.

If you do not have a lot of time available to answer customers? questions individually, you should compile some of the ones that are asked a lot into a FAQ page. That way you will not receive as many inquiries since a lot of what they want to know will always be available to them.

On your site, make sure that you highlight not only the top sellers, but also the products that are not performing as well in sales. This is your chance to give your customers incentive to purchase these products and to shoot down any misconceptions that they may have about them.

Don?t forget the bad with the good. To gain the trust of your consumers, always remember to tell them anything negative about your product. Selling a consumer something without telling them about the flaws is a quick way to get complaints and returned product. To keep your sales final, tell the truth.

Turn your advertising into an article to really reach out to your target audiences. People use search engines to pull up ?how to? articles every day, so make your website useful and boost your search rankings at the same time. Custom content with your advertising cleverly embedded is a great way to give your website exposure.

Develop a strategy that focuses on, not only attracting new customers, but keeping the clients that you already have. Offer incentives and reasons why your current clients should stay with you, so that you can maximize your overall profits and keep everyone happy. This is an effective way to improve your visibility as an organization.

When marketing a product online, change up the wording of your ad copy periodically to see what draws in more visitors. Saying ?two days? instead of ?48 hours? could drastically affect the customer base you draw in for your product, as one example. In addition, changing the wording helps raise your search engine rankings, as it is seen as new content.

Use the word ?important? in your Internet advertising. ?Important? is a very important word to use since people don?t want to ever miss out on anything that might be important. It?s an eye-catching word, and you should use it when you can to draw customers to the ads on your site.

Even though they are print media, business cards are an important part of your Internet marketing strategy. Every time you hand a potential customer your business card, you have the opportunity to direct them to your website. Be sure the URL for your site is printed on your business cards.

These tips offer you a solid foundation from which to grow your business online. These tips will help build your buzz and ultimately, help generate revenue for your company, no matter if your company is product-driven or services-related. Now is the time to take the next step and utilize these techniques and investigate more opportunities, so that you can take your internet marketing to the next level.

Apple steps up labor audits, finds underage workers

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Apple Inc stepped up audits of working conditions at major suppliers last year, discovering multiple cases of underage workers, discrimination and wage problems.

The iPhone and iPad maker, which relies heavily on Asian-based partners like Taiwan's Foxconn Technology Group to assemble the vast majority of its iPhones and iPads, said on Thursday it conducted 393 audits, up 72 percent from 2011, reviewing sites where over 1.5 million workers make its gadgets.

Apple in recent years has faced accusations of building its profits on the backs of poorly treated and severely underpaid workers in China.

That criticism came to the fore around 2010, after reports of suicides at Foxconn drew attention to the long hours that migrant laborers frequently endure, often for a pittance in wages and in severely cramped living conditions.

Foxconn is the trading name of Hon Hai Precision Industry and employs 1.2 million workers across China.

Under Chief Executive Tim Cook, who took over from Steve Jobs in 2011, Apple has taken new steps to improve its record and boost transparency, including the extensive audits of its sprawling supply chain. Last year, it agreed to separate audits by the independent Fair Labor Association.

In an interview on Thursday, Apple senior vice president of operations Jeff Williams said the company has increased its efforts to solve two of the most challenging issues - ensuring there are no under aged workers in its supply chain and limiting working hours to 60 hours a week.

While child labor reflected a small percentage of the workforce, Apple is now investigating its smaller suppliers - which typically supply parts to larger suppliers and hence face less oversight on such issues - to bring them into compliance, sometimes even firing them.

"We go deep in the supply chain to find it," Williams said. "And when we do find it, we ensure that the underage workers are taken care of, the suppliers are dealt with."

In one case, Apple terminated its relationship with a component maker after discovering 74 cases of underage workers. Apple also discovered an employment agency that was forging documents to allow children to illegally work at the supplier.

Apple reported both the supplier and the employment agency to local authorities, the company said in its latest annual report on the conditions in its supply chain.

Apple has audited both small and ancillary suppliers, as well as large ones such as Korea's Samsung Electronics Co, for working conditions. It found 95 percent of sites audited complied with avoiding underage labor.

Child labor is an issue that is part of the larger supply industry as the component maker that Apple found violated child labor laws supplied parts to more than a hundred different companies, including automotive companies, Williams said, vowing to eradicate under aged labor from the industry.

"I don't know how long it will take to get there but that's our goal," said Williams, who has spent a significant amount of his 14 years at Apple in Asia managing the supply chain.

FOCUS ON STUDENT INTERNS

For 2013, Williams said a key focus for Apple will be student interns and ensuring that suppliers do not abuse the internship system, especially in China where many colleges require students to complete internships as part of their curriculum.

Some companies in China are solving labor shortages by employing students. Last September, city officials of the northeastern Chinese coastal city of Yantai ordered vocational high schools to send students to a large plant run by Foxconn - a key contract manufacture for Apple and other large electronics companies like Hewlett Packard - to overcome a shortage of workers.

Another focus areas has been "bonded labor", where agencies who help immigrant workers find jobs take a substantial portion of the worker's pay.

Apple said in the report that it asked suppliers to reimburse $6.4 million in excess foreign contract worker fees in 2012, according to the report.

The company said it achieved 92 percent compliance with a maximum 60-hour work week in its supply chain. Where violations were discovered, Apple took action, it said in its report.

Apple also found and stopped discriminatory practices against women workers in 34 supplier facilities that required pregnancy testing and 25 facilities that tested employees for certain medical conditions, the report said.

Apple Audit Reveals 106 Cases of Underage Labor in China

Apple has released its seventh annual supplier audit and it reveals that one of its suppliers—Guangdong Real Faith Pingzhou Electronics—was found to violate its underage labor policy 74 times. Unsurprisingly, Apple was clear about the consequences of such a problems, and has completely severed ties with the manufacturer. More »

Allen ready for his return to Boston _ with Heat

MIAMI (AP) ? Ray Allen has played in Boston as an opponent 15 times before. He knows what it's like to play under the fabled Celtics banners, knows exactly how the crowd treats visiting players.

His 16th appearance there as a visitor will be substantially different.

Not only will his trip there Sunday be his first as a former Celtic, but it will come with him donning the colors of perhaps the team's biggest rival these days, the reigning NBA champion Miami Heat, the club that has ousted Boston from the playoffs in each of the last two seasons.

And make no mistake, Allen has been getting ready for everything that will accompany this trip for quite a while.

"I've thought about it," Allen said. "I think more about who, family-wise, is going, who can go and sorting the whole protocol out. I don't know what to expect from their side. But it's an interesting concept because I've always gotten a warm welcome, even before I started playing there. I just want to win. Everything else will take care of itself."

When he played there as an opponent in the past, Allen typically got warm receptions. He starred at Connecticut and has deep roots in New England, and those two things go a long way in generating respect from the Boston fan base.

Then he joined the Celtics in the summer of 2007. A year later, he helped them win a championship. He bled green.

Now, not so much.

So on a Sunday afternoon before a national television audience, the big story won't be the return of the Heat to the site of their season-saving Game 6 win in the Eastern Conference finals last year, or the first trip back to Boston for LeBron James since his epic 45-point virtuoso performance in that game, or even the memory of how Celtics fans cheered wildly for the last few minutes of that blowout loss as a "thank you" to their team.

"It's going to be all about Ray," Heat forward Chris Bosh said. "Celtic fans, they're very fixated on the rivalry and 'How could you do that?' They're very passionate."

Allen's relationship with the Celtics broke down in some respects last season, and when the Heat made him an offer last summer, he eventually accepted ? knowing it would raise the ire of those back in Boston.

When the Celtics visited the Heat on opening night this season, the proof of the frosty relationships was there. Former teammates, Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce especially, seemed to want nothing to do with Allen. As Allen checked into the game, his first official appearance as a Miami player, he approached Celtics coach Doc Rivers and got a warm embrace.

It's anyone's guess what the scene will be when he checks in Sunday.

"I'll savor it, going back and seeing the people you spent so much time with," Allen said. "But if you're going into a situation thinking about negative perceptions or behavior that's unbecoming of good sportsmanship, then you just want to get it over with, win the game and get out of there. I don't want it to distract these guys from everybody doing their job and being ready to play."

The bigger concern for both sides will likely be the way each club is playing of late.

Miami has won four straight games, hanging on to the top spot in the Eastern Conference. Boston has dropped six straight, and its hold on the No. 8 ? and final ? playoff spot in the East race is weakening.

Dwyane Wade doesn't think the teams' opposite trajectories will matter much. The way he sees it, when Boston plays Miami, everything gets amped up several notches.

"There's a lot of stories, but you can throw records out the window when we play Boston," Wade said. "It's significant because we have Ray Allen and it's his first time back, but we're going on the road and we want to play well and it's a tough place to play."

The Heat have been through these former-star-returns-to-old-home games before ? most notably when James went back to Cleveland for the first time after he decided to sign with Miami.

After that scene, the Heat say they're prepared for anything Boston can offer.

"They're not going to cheer him, but it's not going to be like that," Wade said. "Not even close."

Alberta premier warns of $6 billion shortfall in oil revenue

CALGARY, Alberta (Reuters) - Alberta's premier warned on Thursday that the Western Canadian province faced a C$6 billion ($6 billion) shortfall in revenue due to deeply discounted prices for its crude oil but offered no specifics on how to prevent falling deeper into the red.

Alberta's financial forecasts have been thrown into disarray by fast-growing output from its vast oil sands and limited pipeline capacity to move it to markets in the United States and elsewhere. That has pulled the price of a barrel down to less than half that of international benchmark Brent oil.

The situation has prompted Premier Alison Redford and her government to warn of a tough budget on March 7, and raised questions about her ability to meet a promise of erasing its budget deficit in the upcoming fiscal year.

In an eight-minute televised address, Redford explained the reasons for the sharply reduced take from Alberta's biggest industry and pledged not to raise taxes to make up the difference, but did not say where she will cut spending.

In fact, she made note of strong desire in the province of 3.8 million people for new roads, schools and healthcare facilities.

"Despite falling oil revenues, I give you my commitment that as we deliver our long-term economic plan for Alberta, we will be thoughtful in our approach and we will deliver on these priorities," she said.

Alberta is Canada's largest oil-producing province and the largest foreign energy supplier to the United States, and had become used to boom times until the oil market weakened last year.

Redford has been an enthusiastic promoter of TransCanada Corp's contentious Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry Alberta's crude to refineries in Texas.

The project took a series of steps forward this week as the governor of Nebraska approved a new route for the long-delayed project through the state and 53 U.S. senators urged U.S. President Barack Obama to approve it. However, Obama's decision is not expected for several months.

Alberta is considering a host of other potential routes to new markets that could lead to higher returns, but Redford cautioned that long-term solutions will not be quick.

In the meantime, Alberta, which derives 30 percent of its overall revenue from the oil industry, will be C$6 billion short of its revenue target for the upcoming fiscal year, she said.

Recently, the bitumen crude from the oil sands has sold for more than $40 a barrel below U.S. light crude, leading the Bank of Canada this week to also point out the national economy was feeling the effects as well.

"It will take focus and determination over the next several years to open new markets. And that is job one for my government," Redford said.

The Progressive Conservative government, in power since 1971 and re-elected last year, is being pilloried by its opponents for forecasts they say that have been far too rosy, for relying too heavily on the fortunes of a highly cyclical industry and for tapping debt markets.

"It doesn't do any good to talk about how we might have pipelines four or five or six years from now," said Danielle Smith, leader of the opposition Wildrose Party. "What is the plan over the next three or four or five years to get us accustomed to this new reality of lower energy prices and lower revenues?"

Redford was vague as she cautioned about upcoming spending cuts in programs and services "that are not sustainable over the long term."

"Quite simply, we have to put Alberta's finances on a more stable footing. A province as prosperous as Alberta should not be as susceptible as we are to swings in the price of oil and gas." ($1=$1 Canadian)
