A VFACTS report by the Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries showed that new car retailers saw a big boost in sales in August, over the much softer month of July, and according to the report, the jump was led by sales of larger vehicles, including SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
The report showed that the sale of new sport utility vehicles increased 18.6 percent over the previous year and the sale of light commercial vehicles increased 19.1 percent over last year. The heavy truck market also showed an increase of nearly 12 percent over 2011.

?The types of vehicles we focus on, particularly in Black Outback 4?4 are the vehicles that are generally needed by business owners, particularly the light commercial vehicles,? said the owner of the dealership that also offers car finance in Brisbane. ?When we see an increase in these types of vehicles it creates a sense of optimism not only for the sales of cars and vehicles, but also for the entire economy, because it shows that business owners are willing to spend the money and are confident enough to spend money for their businesses.?
The report conducted by the Australian Federal Chamber of Automotive Industries showed that in addition to the high sales numbers for SUVs, 4x4s and light commercial vehicles, Toyota led in the sales for the month of August in Australia, with 19.2 percent of the new car market.
