Police: Downtown Columbia credit union robbed

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS)- The Columbia Police Department is investigating a robbery at the Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union on Washington Street.

Witnesses tell police an older black male entered the bank just before 3 p.m., made threats to the staff, and demanded money. Witnesses did not see a gun, but the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Police say no one was injured during the robbery.

Police say the suspect is described as an older black male with a gray mustache and salt and pepper hair. He was wearing a green jacket with the word "khaki" written on the collar. He was wearing a tan and navy hat and had silver rimmed glasses.

Police are searching the area for any leads.
